Tel Aviv --- December 24….. Delta Galil, a respected global apparel company and producer of innovative fashions for leading retailers and brands worldwide, has introduced enhancements to its groundbreaking RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton textile technology to embrace an eco friendly marketplace.

In line with Delta Galil’s corporate commitment to the environment, RealCool Cotton garments and fabrics are now treated with a new technology consisting of natural antibacterial and odor-repelling agents that significantly reduce the carbon footprint of clothing throughout its lifecycle.

With the use of two separate cotton fabric treatments technology which counteract both the growth of bacteria and the embedding of odors in RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton, clothing requires less laundering and removes the need to use hot water in the laundering process.

“Clothing is typically laundered more frequently than necessary due to odors becoming lodged in the fabric,” says Esti Maoz, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Delta Galil. “The new cotton textile treatments technology introduced in RealCool Cotton keep clothing fresh through multiple wears, extends the life of the product and helps protect the environment.”

Research indicates that clothing is responsible for approximately 25 percent of an individual's C02 emissions – about one ton per person. Over a third of that is in the washing and drying of the garment, the rest is from crop growing, the production, manufacturing and transportation of new clothes.

By preventing the growth of bacteria, RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton clothing requires less laundering and removes the need to use hot water in the process. However, clothing is generally laundered in order to 'freshen' it, rather than to remove stains, and the enhancements introduced in RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton fabric make this no longer necessary. Clothing made of RealCool Cotton may be washed less often, and at more moderate and lower temperatures (30 C or less), rather than at hot temperatures (40 C or more) today.

By dramatically reducing the laundering requirements of RealCool Cotton garments, Delta Galil's cotton technology has extended the lifecycle of the garment and has significantly reduced its carbon footprint. For the end consumer, the effect of reducing the number and temperature of laundering cycles minimizes wear and tear as well as the consumption of electricity, water and detergent.

RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton technology was introduced with tremendous excitement in 2005 as "the next generation” of cotton textiles, by integrating the familiar comfort of natural, pure cotton fibers and the hydrophilic functionality that was previously associated only with synthetically-blended performance fabrics.

"RealCool Cotton technology changed the way the world viewed cotton apparel, by combining wicking properties with the breathable, soft-touch popularity of cotton,” says Delta Galil’s Maoz. "In the two short years since its introduction, the demand for RealCool Cotton clothing and garments from consumers around the world has been tremendous.”

RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton fabrics have proven to be as effective in wicking as their synthetic competitors, addressing the market need for true moisture management properties in the popular natural cotton touch.

The idea is simple: the body produces sweat to cool down, and the faster the sweat evaporates, the faster the body cools. RealCool Cotton has been designed to maximize comfort by transporting the moisture to the surface of the fabric, where it can evaporate.

The patented process, which is based on nanotechnology, increases the absorption capacity of cotton while also giving the fabric the wicking properties it needs.

Three types of RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton fabric are available – RCC-E, for everyday wear, RCC-A, for active lifestyles and gentle sports, and RCC-P, for professional athletes – addressing unique functional requirements. With the addition of anti-bacterial and odor-repelling properties, the already substantial market potential multiplies.

As awareness of global warming and the environmental impacts of our lifestyles grows across the US, Europe and the rest of the world, Delta Galil has chosen to take a proactive stand in cotton technology, offering a more eco-friendly alternative,” said Maoz.

“The energy utilized globally in the repeated laundering of clothing can be reduced dramatically, and we all end up benefiting from a cleaner, less wasteful world.”

According to Wright Reports, Delta Galil manufactures private label women's intimate apparel, men's underwear, socks, shirts, baby wear, bras, leisurewear and nightwear, and knitted fabrics. Delta sells its products to leading retailers such as Marks and Spencer, Victoria's Secret, Kmart, JC Penney, Carrefour, Hema, Wal-mart, Target and Mervyn's. This high quality, international textile giant sells its products under a variety of brand names, including Wilson, Converse, Maidenform Girls, Mexx and Nicole Miller, as well as under the Delta brand name.

"RealCool (Real Cool) Cotton’s exciting new anti-bacteria and odor-repelling treatments keep clothing fabrics cleaner and fresher for longer, increasing comfort and giving one a new, fresh confidence in their clothes," says Maoz.

"With the enhancements made to RealCool Cotton, clothes retain that 'just washed' feeling after a full day at work regardless of how stressful your day has been."

Maoz, who takes great pride in the benefits that Delta Galil cotton technology developments bring to consumers the world over, states: "At the end of the day, it is all about comfort. And that is what RealCool Cotton technology represents - fresh comfort and true quality at a cost which is reasonable and friendly to the environment. "
